Our Church is Presbyterian, so we call our organized groups “Committees”. We have some committees that we have to have and others that we form for our own context.

Session: This is a group of men and women elected by the congregation to lead and make decisions. They set the direction, manage the business and property of the church, and work to get things done. Under the session, we have a number of session committees that are made up of volunteers and other session members.

  • Corporate Affairs – Handles the business and property work
  • Family Ministries – Handles Christian education as well as family oriented ministry opportunities
  • Fellowship – Gathers the congregation for meals and special events to help the congregation connect with one another
  • Missions – Develops awareness, participation, and fundraising for both local and foreign missions
  • Worship – Plans and organizes worthip services and the worship space for Northminster

Deacons: This is a group of elected men and women who focus on the care of people in the church. They see and respond to needs for the physical and spiritual welfare of people in our church and beyond. They also oversee two Deacon Committees

  • Bereavement Committee – Plans and serves funeral dinners
  • Care Team – members who volunteer to visit other members who are shut-in or in need

Special Committees

  • Media Team – Working to maintain an up-to-date website and a social media presence for Northminster
  • Future of Worship Task Force – This temporary team is thinking about the future of worship and considering changes to the sanctuary of Northminster
